Walking In Salisbury

In and around Salisbury there are many footpaths, miles of ancients roads and uncrowded country lanes, rolling hills, chalk downlands and tree lined river valleys (often with outstanding views).

Salisbury Civic Society has produced a City Walk leaflet which takes in buildings of historical and architectural interest. This leaflet is available from Salisbury Tourist Information Centre.

A Walking Map for Salisbury and Wilton has been published by The District Council. It has 15 circular walks of varying lengths. One of the walks takes in the famous Constable view of Salisbury Cathedral. A free copy of these walks is available from Salisbury Tourist Information Centre.

If you like a longer walk there is the Golden Way 7 mile circular walk around the fringes of Salisbury. It takes in the River Avon corridor, the prehistoric earthwork and fortress of Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral and its Close plus parks and gardens. Details of this walk is available at the Tourist Information Centre.
